Community Support

At Kina, we are keenly aware of our social responsibility to support the growth and prosperity of Papua New Guinea. In line with our vision, which is to see local customers and communities prosper, we contribute to – and directly participate in – a range of worthy causes and events each year.

#ProudlyPNG: Kina Bank Celebrates Independence Day

Leading up to our 43rd year as an independent nation, we at Kina Bank were excited to celebrate Independence Day with the rest of Papua New Guinea. With the opening of Ela Beach on Wednesday September 12 and witnessing fireworks on both sides of the Harbour, the excitement of Independence Day grew. After the beach opening, we at Kina Bank launched our online three-day countdown on Thursday. On Friday, Kina Bank celebrated early with all staff dressing up to proudly showcase their #PNGPride. On Sunday, Kina Bank staff enjoyed the festive celebrations around Papua New Guinea. Staff also joined in the celebrations with friends and family at Ela Beach and Paga Hill. With our determination to remain strong, proud, independent and free – it was our hope to celebrate loudly with everyone else that we are 43 years old.

Random Acts of Kina: Sunday Clean-up of Konedobu Oval

Sure enough, it was a fun-filled Sunday morning (17 June, 2018) with more than a 100 staff and their family members turning up to clean-up the Konedobu Oval, in the Nation’s Capital. The staff and their family members thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and look forward to participate in future similar events. The Total Waste Management company removed a total of 102 garbage bags filled up with rubbish. The day was a great reminder of Kina’s social priorities and responsibilities:

‘Responsible – Value the communities we live in, to build a better future’

Lamana Dockers crowned as 2017 EsiLoan AFLPOM Kings & Queens

The 2017 EsiLoan AFL Port Moresby ended on a high note last weekend with Lamana Dockers crowned as the 2017 EsiLoan AFL Port Moresby Kings & Queens while the A reserve grade was won by the Gordons Kokofa. The grand finals were contested evenly which saw all three Lamana teams dominating the grand finals in the three divisions. In the Women’s Division, Lamana Dockers took on Concept Koboni; in the Reserves Division Lamana Dockers took on Oil Min Kokofas and in the Seniors Division Lamana Dockers took on Concept Koboni. “According to a long-time POM residence and follower of the code it was one of the most entertaining and trouble free grand final ever witnessed in the history of AFLPOM. It was a family event which saw children and mothers turned up in numbers to support their teams and sell goods at the same time.” AFLPOM Senior Officials John Kali (Secretary for the Department of Personal Management) and Loi Bakani (Governor of Bank of Papua New Guinea) thanked EsiLoan for its support and look forward to continuing the relationship in the New Year. The competition commenced in March and ended with the grand final being played on Saturday, 7 October. EsiLoan was the major sponsor in the 2017 AFLPOM Competition.

Kina staff recently donated clothing and linen to the Hanuabada Fire Appeal in the National Capital District, Port Moresby. Our community is important to us because they are the centre of everything we do. 18 houses were razed by fire on August 20 leaving 200 people affected with many living in makeshift shelters.
