Account Opening

With DigiBankr, you will be able to open a Kina Everyday Account or a Bundle (Kina Everyday and Kina Tomorrow Savings Account) picking up your card at your nominated branch, upon deposit of the standard account opening amounts of; K10 for Kina Everyday Account & K50 for Kina Tomorrow Savings via the Express lane.

Who is eligible to open a bank account?

To open a bank account, individuals who are 18 years of age and above, and fall under the categories of students, employed, or self-employed are eligible.

It is important to have the following requirements to open your account using DigiBankr:
  • 2 forms of valid identification documents – electronic copies
    • Image format: jpeg, jpg
    • Image size: 6mb or less
  • Signature – electronic copy
  • Valid email address and Mobile number
  • Presentable appearance for ‘Face Liveness Check’
  • You must have enough funds to meet the minimum account opening balance.
    • Kina Everyday Account – K10
    • Kina Tomorrow Savings Account – K50
    • Deposit must be made prior to receiving the card
What forms of IDs are required?
When applying for a new account you will need to have 2 forms of ID (2P or 1P+1S). We classify Primary (P) ID as:

  • Passport (foreign passport must include a copy of your entry permit)
  • Driver’s License
  • Employment ID card together with employment confirmation letter
  • Current student ID and confirmation letter from your tertiary provider
  • All confirmation letters must have the following information:
    • Full Name
    • Date of birth
    • Nationality or Place of birth
    • Residential Address
    • Occupation
    • Postal Address
  • PNG Government issued photographic License and or Permit
  • National Identity card issued by NID office


Secondary (S) ID as:

  • TIN Certificate for Individual
  • Birth Certificate issued by PNG NID Office
  • Ownership records: Property title
  • Other Bank card with 3 months recent statement
  • Superannuation membership card with current month’s statement
  • Membership cards of Superannuation Savings & Loans Societies with current month’s statement
  • Current membership of professional or Trade Affiliation
  • Visa Entry Permit (Non-Citizen resident)

Can the DigiBankr platform detect fraudulent activities?

Yes, DigiBankr is equipped with various measures to detect and mitigate risk associated with fraudulent activities. These measures include:

  • Internal security and audit procedures
  • Multi-factor authentication to verify phone numbers and email addresses
  • Captcha to prevent bot applications
  • Data comparison across documents, forgery detection, and the requirement for existing customers to open accounts only through internet banking.
If I am an existing Kina Bank customer, am I eligible to open a Secondary account using DigiBankr?

No. You will need to log onto your existing Personal Online Banking to open your secondary account. You should have sufficient funds in your primary account to meet the minimum account opening balance  

Am I eligible to open a new joint account using DigiBankr?

No. You will have to visit any Kina Bank Branch of your choice to open your joint savings account

Can I open a new Business Account using DigiBankr?

No. You will need to visit any Kina Bank branch of your choice to open your business account. This platform is only for New-to-bank customers that wish to open a new Everyday or Savings Account.

Is there a fee charged by Kina Bank when using DigiBankr to open an account?

No, there is no fee.

Do I receive a Kina Debit Card with my new Everyday or Savings Account?
