How It Works
What is Kina Pei?
Kina Pei is a digital solution provided by Kina Bank that allows you to store, manage and use your Kina Bank Visa Debit/Credit Cards by tokenising it to make payments at any EFTPOS terminals with your mobile phone.
To start using the app, you need:
- An Android device running version 10 or higher
- NFC capability on your device
- Registered on Personal Online Banking
Kina Pei is available on Google Play. Once you have downloaded the application, you will need to sign in using your personal online banking credentials. Follow the prompts to add a card by selecting “Add Card” and choose which card to digitise (tokenise).
To make a payment, open the Kina Pei app and log in with your personal online banking credentials. Select your card, then tap and pay at any Kina Bank EFTPOS terminals, or any other EFTPOS terminals both locally and internationally that support contactless payments (Tap and Pay) and Visa Card transactions. No extra fees are applied when using Kina Pei, however transaction fees still apply.

What is a Kina Pei?

How do I download and install?
You can download Kina Pei mobile app from Google Play Store. Search for Kina Pei, tap on “Download,” and follow the on-screen instructions to install it.
Is Kina Pei free to use?
Yes, the app is free to download and use.
Where can I use Kina Pei?
You can use Kina Pei on any Kina Bank EFTPOS terminals or any other EFTPOS that supports contactless (Tap and Pay) payment and visa transactions locally or international.
EFTPOS terminal that support contactless payments will have a tap and pay symbol and have a visa logo if it supports Visa transactions.
Which Mobile Version Support this Kina Pei?
To use Kina Pei, your device must:
· Be and Android series 10 and newer are supported on this app.
· Near Filed Communication(NFC) capable on your device and must be turned on to do payments
How to check if your phone can make contactless payments?
You have to find out if your phone has NFC:
· Open Settings;
· In the Search settings bar, type NFC;
· Tap and turn on NFC.
If you can’t find NFC, your phone can’t make contactless payments.
If you have set up your Kina Pei, but cannot make an in-store payment?
Check these options.
1. Make sure your phone meets software standards:
Check if the software on your phone is Play Protect certified. If you modified your phone, make sure it meets security standards. Kina Pei might not work in stores with phones that:
· run developer versions of Android;
· are rooted, run a custom ROM, or have modified factory software;
· are untested and haven’t been approved by EMVCo;
· Have an unlocked bootloader.
To fix these issues, with the exception of Play Protect certification and rooted phones, reset your phone to factory settings.
How do I register for Kina Pei?
It is available to all Kina Bank Account holders who have Visa Debit/Visa Credit Cards. To be able to use the app, you will have to be register for Kina Bank’s Personal Online Banking platform. Your Personal Online banking credentials will be used for you to log in to the app.
How do I log in to my account?
When you launch the Kina Pei App on your Mobile, you will be taken to the log in page, you will enter your Kina Bank Personal Online Banking Username and Password to be able to log into the app.
What should I do if I forget my Passcode?
If you forget your passcode to the app, you can click on “Forgot Passcode” this will take you the sign in page where you log in with your Personal Online Banking Credentials and create a new Passcode.
What should I do if I change Mobile devices?
If you change your phone, you can transfer your data by signing into your account on the new device. Make sure to remove Kina Pei from the old phone for security.
What should I do if I lose my phone with Kina Pei installed on it?
If you lose your phone, immediately contact Kina Bank on +675 308 3800 or email us at kina@kinabank.com.pg to report the lost or stolen device. We will then block and disable the Kina Pei on your lost or stolen device to prevent unauthorised access.
Do I need an internet connection to use Kina Pei?
Yes, you can pay even if there is no Internet connection available until there is a need to replenish security keys.
Can I do cash out with Kina Pei?
No, Kina Pei cannot do cash out.
How can I link my Kina Bank Visa Card?
You can link your Kina Bank Visa Credit/Debit Card by following these steps:
Step 1: Sync Your Device Time
Make sure your device’s time matches the network time.
To do this:
1. Go to Settings
2. Select Date & Time
3. Turn on Set time automatically
Step 2: Link Your Card
1. Open the app and log in.
2. You will see an option to Add Card.
3. Click on Add Card to view all your linked cards.
4. Choose the card you want to tokenise.
The first payment card that you add to the Kina Pei becomes your default card.
How to change a default card?
You should open the Kina Pei. Find and select the card that you want to use as default. Tap contactless sign to make it default. Alternatively, you can go to manage cards and select a dew default payment card by tapping on the contactless sign.
Can you pay using a different card other than your default card?
You can pay with other cards that are not default cards. Open your Kina Pei. On the dashboard, on your card swipe left until you find the card you want to use. Hold the back of your phone against the payment terminal to pay. If prompted, follow the instructions on the screen.
Are there any fees using Kina Bank Cards with Kina Pei?
No, no extra fee is applied. (Transaction Fee applies – refer fee schedule)
How secure is Kina Pei?
Kina Pei uses advanced security measures, such as encryption, and biometric login options (fingerprint), to protect your data and transactions.
What payment methods are supported?
The app supports payment methods on EFTPOS for Sales of Goods and Services.
How do I make a pay-in-store?
Make sure Kina Pei is set as the default payment app:
· Open Settings;
· tap Apps & Notifications and then Default apps;
· your Default apps might be under Advanced;
· tap Tap & Pay;
· Set Kina Pei as the default app.
If you have logged into Kina Pei for the first time, you will be prompted to set Kina Pei has the default app for making contactless payments.
To make a payment, go to the “Kina Pei App” login using your Credentials and enable which card to use and tap on the EFTPOS machine purchases at participating Kina Bank EFTPOS Terminals, other banks EFTPOS terminals both locally and internationally that support contactless payments (Tap and Pay) and Visa transactions. Hold the back of your phone close to the payment reader of an EFTPOS terminal for a few seconds. When you are done paying, a done check mark will appear on the screen.
If the “Done” doesn’t appear you should try:
· holding your phone in a different way, so that your device NFC antenna can be triggered;
· holding your phone closer to the payment reader;
· Holding your phone for a few extra seconds.
If the “Done” appears, but cashier says that the payment did not work:
· check if the store accepts contactless payments;
· Contact your Bank to make sure your card is working properly.
If prompted, follow the instructions on the screen. Some stores use older software for their EFTPOS terminals that asks for PIN or signature. If you are asked, follow the steps on the EFTPOS terminals screen.
Card is blocked. What do you need to know?
If your card is blocked, your digital card will be blocked and you will need to contact Kina Bank on +675 308 3800 or email us at kina@kinabank.com.pg to unblock your card.
How can I view my transaction history?
To view your transaction history in the Kina Pei app, follow these steps:
1. Go to the “Transaction History” or “Activity” section of the Kina Pei app.
2. In this section, you will see a detailed list of all the transactions you have made using the Kina Pei.
3. The transaction history will include information such as the transaction dates, amounts, and recipients.
Please note that the transaction history displayed in the Kina Pei app will only show the transactions that were made using the Kina Pei. It will not include your overall banking transactions that were not made through the Kina Pei app.
Can I cancel a transaction?

What should I do if a transaction fails?
If a transaction fails, check your internet connection, ensure your card is valid and has sufficient funds, and try again. If the problem persists, contact Kina Bank for assistance.
Is there limit to how much I can spend using Kina Pei?
Yes, there are spending limits, just the same as your physical Visa card. For specific details on these limits, please refer to the Kina Bank Fees and Charges. The spending limits are linked to your spending limits for your physical card because Kina Pei tokenises your physical card.
How do I update my personal information?
To update your Personal Information, please visit any Kina Bank branches, digital hubs or contact our us on +675 308 3800 or email us at kina@kinabank.com.pg.
What should I do if I notice unauthorized transactions?
Immediately contact customer support to report any unauthorised transactions. They will guide you through the process to secure your account and investigate the issue Fraud contact 24/7.
