The Papa Health Post and Resident Clinic in Hiri, Central Province, received essential medical equipment to continue serving the village and surrounding communities.
As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, Kina Bank’s Support Services team donated various medical items, including a 9,500 Litre water tank, an obstetric delivery bed, blood pressure monitors, thermometers, weight scales, wheelie bins, and body infrared thermometers, on Thursday, May 15, 2025.
Kina Bank’s General Manager Support Services Samuel Kovea, handed over the donation to Dr Newman Uloulo, the National Health Director for Salvation Army Health Service. The event was attended by Papa Health Post staff including representatives from The Salvation Army, Papa village Leaders including the village Chief and Kina Bank staff.
Mr. Kovea emphasised the importance of health facilities in maintaining and improving public health, stating, “Health facilities are crucial for the overall wellbeing of our communities. We are pleased that the medical equipment will benefit Papa and the surrounding villages.”
Dr Newman Uloulo highlighted the significance of the donation, noting that the Papa Health Post serves over 7,000 people from Papa, Lealea, Bogi, Boera and Porebada and external catchment areas such as Manumanu, Kouderika, and Baruni. He expressed gratitude for the partnership, stating, “The government cannot do it alone. It is vital to work with partners like Kina Bank to deliver essential health services. The additional delivery bed is a relief for our staff, increasing our capacity to assist women in delivering safely.”
Officer in Charge of Papa Health Post Zarrah Kihi, shared similar sentiments, acknowledging the challenges faced in securing medical supplies over the years. “Today we celebrate and acknowledge Kina Bank’s contribution. We are grateful for the partnership, which will enhance our capability to serve our communities effectively,” she said.
Papa village Chief Nao Nao also expressed his appreciation, stating, “Health services are a need in our community. This donation means we do not need to go into Port Moresby to access basic health services. Thank you, Kina Bank, for recognising our need and funding vital equipment for our health post.”
The Papa Health Post is a level 2 health facility that provides essential outpatient services, and the donation from Kina Bank’s Support Services team significantly improves the quality of healthcare provided.
