KSi Daily Report: Tuesday, 31 October 2017

The month of October closed on a positive note as both stock indices gained on Tuesday’s POMSOX trading session. The Kina Securities main index KSi was up by a mere 0.33 points or 0.01% to close at 5,286.25 points. The Kina Securities Home Index KSHi gained 9.85 points or 0.09% to finish at 11,047.53 points.
One stock rose compared to nil losses for the day.
The winning stock for the day was Bank South Pacific Ltd (BSP) which ended a toea higher to close at K9.51.
Meanwhile, energy and mining stocks Oil Search Ltd (OSH) and Newcrest Mining Ltd (NCM) both evened out at K17.79 and K54.00 flat respectively.
Followed closely was financial stock Credit Corporation Ltd (CCP) which was unmoved at K1.78.
A total volume of 9,433 shares were transacted worth K57, 214.88.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average carved out fresh history in an otherwise downbeat day with a historic period of relative tranquillity on Wall Street. The DJIA slumped 85.45 points or 0.36% to end at 23,349.00 points. Japan’s Nikkei share average slipped with talks on corporate tax cuts as the Nikkei was up 0.06 points to finish at 22,011.61 points. The Australian market recovered after a weak start and was modestly higher despite negative cues as higher commodity prices lifted resources stocks. S&P/ASX 200 benchmark index added 7.40 points or 0.12% to 5,991.10 points.
