Thursday’s POMSOX trading session saw one stock index climbed as another maintained amid a thin trading session. The Kina Securities main index KSi was up 9.76 points or 0.18% to close at 5, 458.33 points. Meanwhile, the Kina Securities Home index KSHi was unchanged at 10, 917.38 points.
Dual-listed energy stock Oil Search Ltd (OSH) was up 8toea, closing at a high of K17.92. The stock traded 713 shares valued K12, 776.96.
In off-shore markets, U.S stocks snapped a three-day losing streak while a fractional loss for the S&P 500 left the benchmark down for a fourth consecutive session. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 40 points or 0.2% to close near 24, 141.00 points. Japan’s Nikkei share average rose taking back some ground lost in the previous session as investors sought bargains after the benchmark index skidded its most in 8-1/2 months. The Nikkei surged 301.15 points or 1.36% to 22, 478.19 points. The ASX pulled higher with gains in the banking sector helping the benchmark to its first positive session in four days. The S&P/ASX 200 benchmark index rose 31 points or 0.5% to 5, 977 points.
