KSi Daily Report: Monday, 09 January 2017
The week’s POMSOX trading session opened on a quiet note amid thin trading on Monday as one stock index declined. The Kina Securities main index KSi was down 5.05 points or 0.10% to close at 4,810.20 points. The Kina Securities Home Index KSHi was steady at 10,628.45 points.
Dual –listed energy stock Oil Search Ltd (OSH) was the only stock traded today. The stock ended 5toea lower to close at K17.45. There were 262 shares traded valued at K4,571.90.
In markets abroad, U.S stocks ended the week sharply higher as the Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced 0.32% or 64.51 points to 19,964 points for the week but came up just short of touching the 20,000 mark. Japanese stock exchange was closed today to commemorate the coming of age day. The Australian stock market advanced for the fifth straight session, tracking the record closing highs on Wall Street after U.S jobs data showed an increase in hourly wage growth. The S&P/ASX 200 benchmark index was up 44.10 points or 0.77% to close at 5,799.70 points.
