Both Kina Securities Indices closed unchanged on Christmas eve on Wednesday on a quiet note. The Kina Securities Main Index KSi ended flat at 3,527.69 while the Kina Securities Home Index KSHi was steady at 9,508.47 points.
Only three stocks traded with nil gains today.
Financial stocks in PNG Bank South Pacific Ltd (BSP) and Credit Corporation Ltd (CCP) closed unchanged at K7.12 and K2.50 flat respectively. Followed by Oil Search Ltd (OSH) at K16.00 even.
Wednesday’s trading session recorded total shares of 2,406 units valued at K4,219.92.
In markets abroad, the Dow Jones Industrials closed above 18,000 for the first time ever with the S&P 200 notched up its 51st record close of the year, underscoring confidence in the strength of the U.S economy. The DJIA ended 64.73 points or 0.36% to 18,024.17 points. the Nikkei rose on strong U.S growth data as the Japanese Nikkei surged 200 points or 1.13% to 17,835 points. Australian share market traded well below the flat-line during the day and closed lower as mining and iron ore prices hit a new five-year low. The benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 closed at 5,394.50, slightly up by 13.58 points or 0.25% today.
