KSi Daily Report: Wednesday, 23 March 2016

Kina Securities main index, the KSi, extended gain for the second session today despite very thin volume. The index closed at added 152.64 points or 3.93% at 4,034.09 points slightly above the 4,000 benchmark. Meanwhile, the home index stayed at 9,107.26 points unchanged.

One stock gained while another stock traded unmoved.

Newcrest Mining Ltd (NCM) advanced a further K3.00 at K38.00. The increase strengthened the main index.

Stocks traded however remained unchanged were Bank South Pacific Ltd (BSP) and Oil Search Ltd (OSH) at K7.50 and K14.30 respectively.

Only 921 units were traded today worth about K10,162.10.
U.S. stocks gave up meager gains to end slightly lower in overnight trading after a decline in financial and consumer-staples shares weighed on the main benchmarks. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 41.30 points, or 0.2%, to 17,582.57 points snapping a seven-session win streak. Likewise , Japanese stocks were flat in choppy trade on Wednesday after Tuesday’s attacks in Brussels stoked appetite for the safe-haven yen, which trimmed the profit outlook for exporters as it gained on the U.S. dollar. The Nikkei share average was closed 8.74 points or 0.34% lower at 16,989.81 points. Australian shares have finished in the red, with low trading volumes and falls across all sectors. he benchmark S&P/ASX200 index was down 24.30 points or 0.47% at 5,142.30 points
