Trading was moderate for the last trading day of 2015 , New Year’s eve on POMSOX as one of the Kina Securities stock indices gained while the other remained unchanged. The Kina Securities main index KSi added 6.07 points or 0.18% to 3,417.51 points while the Kina Securities Home Index, KSHi was maintained at 9,599.58 points at the close.
One out of three stocks traded today closed higher.
Dual-listed oil and gas stock Oil Search Ltd (OSH) ended 6toea higher to close at K14.06.
Other stocks included financial stocks Bank South Pacific Ltd (BSP) and Credit Corporation Ltd (CCP) closing flat at K7.50 and K2.25 even respectively.
Thursday’s trades recorded a total of 7,168 shares at a monetary value of K28,494.90.
US stocks ended lower on New Year’s Wednesday as a drop in oil resumed, dragging down energy company energy shares. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 117.11 points 0.66% to 17,603.87 points. Japanese stocks edged up in thin trade after a Wall Street rally helped brighten sentiment on the Nikkei’s last trading day of 2015. The Nikkei share average was 51.48 points higher or 0.27% to 19,033.71 points. The Australian share market was slightly lower as energy and mining stocks weighed on the last day of trade for the year. The benchmark S&P ASX/200 declined 24.04 points or 0.45% to 5,295.90 points at the close.
