POMSOX stocks opened the New Year in positive spirit. The Kina Securities main index, the KSi, gained at 3,871.93 while the Kina Securities Home Index or the KSHi also climbed 2.79 points ending at 8,180.96.
A stock went up while others traded unchanged.
Bank South Pacific Ltd (BSP) added one Toea to K7.99. Credit Corporation Ltd (CCP) traded even at K2.50. Likewise, Newcrest Mining Ltd (NCM) and Oil Search Ltd (OSH) traded unchanged at K30.00 and K17.53 respectively.
The day’s trading session registered a light volume of 17,366 shares at value of K150,419.73.
On markets abroad, the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) closed 2013 at records on Tuesday. The index gained 72.37 points on the last trading day of the year at 16,576.66 points, up almost 27 per cent in 2013, surged by consumer confidence and Fed’s stimulus measures. Likewise, the Nikkei share average climbed 112.37 points or 0.69% at 16,291.31 points on Monday ending 2013 on a 57 percent annual gain. The Australian S&P/ASX 200 rose 15.70 points or 0.29% today closing at 5,367.90 points, as investors playing a catch-up to a strong close in the Dow. The index gained 15 per dent in 2013.
