KSi Daily Report: Thursday, 18 September 2014

POMSoX trading was active for Thursday’s session with the Kina Securities main index, the KSi, steady at 3,746.79 points at the close. Likewise, the home index or the KSHi was also unchanged at 8,065.08 points.

All six stocks that transacted closed flat.

Bank South Pacific Ltd (BSP) was traded at K7.20, followed by Marengo Mining Ltd (MMC) which completed at 8toea while Oil Search Ltd (OSH) ended the day still strong at K19.21. NGIP Agmark Ltd (NGP) and New Britain Palm Oil Ltd (NBO) closed 79 toea and K17.00 respectively while sole listed pharmaceutical stock ended K1.50 flat.

Total trades registered a combined volume of 326,811 shares valued at K160,470.64.

In the overseas markets, U.S stocks gained slightly higher after the Fed meeting and release of the inflation data with Dow Jones Industrial Average gaining 24.88 points or 0.15% to end at 17,156.85 points. Japan’s Nikkei share average closed at a new eight-month high and posted the biggest daily rise in two weeks on Thursday, on weak yen giving exporters a boost despite disappointing trade data which showed the softer currency is not significantly supporting sales. The Nikkei share average ended 178.90 points or 1.13% higher at 16,067.57 points. Likewise, Australian share market ended higher with modest gains on Wall Street overnight. The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 added 8.50 points or 0.16% to close at 5,415.80 points today.
