POMSOX trading on Thursday was unchanged amid a moderate session. The Kina Securities main index KSi was flat at 3,373.05 points and similarly the Kina Securities Home Index, KSHi was maintained at 9,120.58 points.
Banking and finance stock Bank South Pacific Ltd (BSP) and junior cap miner Highlands Pacific Ltd (HIG) were the only stocks traded flat today. The stocks evened out at K7.50 and 20toea respectively.
Total shares registered today was 293,381 units valued at K1,227,924.50.
In offshore news, U.S stocks closed higher as oil futures recovered, providing some relief for battered energy shares. Japan’s Nikkei rose, gaining for the first time in four days as higher oil prices improved investors’ risk appetite while expectations that the ECB will ease further boded well for Japan’s exports to Europe. The Nikkei advanced 213.68 points (+1.28%) to 16,855.88 points. The Australian share market closed slightly lower, with major players such as QBE and BHP Billiton trading ex- dividend. At the close, the benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index was 7.09 points (- 0.14%) to 5,150.10 points.
