KSi Daily Report: Monday, 4 May 2015

Kina Securities main stock Index, the KSi, fell about 7% due to one heavily-weighted mining stock that retreated. Newcrest Mining Ltd (NCM) lost K5.00 to close at K25.00, causing the main index down 254.93 points to 3,607.75 points. However, the home stock index or the KHSi remained steady at 9,799.91 points.

Other stocks that traded today remained flat. Oil Search Ltd (OSH) maintained at K16.50, and financial stocks, Bank South Pacific Ltd (BSP) and Credit Corporation Ltd (CCP) ended at K7.45 and K2.55 respectively.

Monday’s session recorded a total trading volume of 3,309 shares worth of K35,533.20.

U.S stocks ended last Friday on positive note, with the main indexes advancing more than 1% in New York stock market. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 11.62 points or 0.06% to 19,531.63 points. The Japanese stock market was closed today for a public holiday. The Australian share market closed flat despite strong leads from Wall Street amid rally among the major mining stocks while the four big banks weighed down on the market. The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 collected 6.80 points or 0.12% to close higher at 5,821.20 points.
