Monday’s trading was rather quiet amid a light POMSOX trading session as one stock index gained. The Kina Securities Main index was unchanged at 4,814.07 points while the Kina Securities Home Index KSHi declined 9.85 points or 0.09% to 10,625.26 points.
Banking and financial stock Bank South Pacific Ltd (BSP) was the only stock traded today. The stock shed a toea to close lower at K8.99, with registered volume of 1,412 shares valued at K12,693.88.
In U.S markets, the Dow Jones Industrial Average registered a back-to-back record close in overnight as it scored 14 record finishes since Trump’s election. The DJIA rose 27.00 points or 0.13% to 19,738.00 points. Japanese stocks rose to a fresh one-year high helped by strong Wall Street performance and a weak yen, while investors picked up defensive stocks that were lagging in recent rally. Japan’s Nikkei share average closed up 182.50 points or 0.96% to 19,178.62 points. The Australian stock market advanced following positive cues from Wall Street and European markets as well on higher commodity prices. S&P/ASX 200 benchmark index added 20.50 points or 0.37% to 5,581.10 points.
