KSi Daily Report: Friday, 29 May 2015

POMSOX trading was quiet for Friday with the Kina Securities Index KSi steady at 3,607.41 points. Likewise, the home index KSHi was also unchanged at 9,808.46 points.

There were three stocks that transacted flat today.

Bank South Pacific Ltd (BSP) was completed at K7.45 flat, as the largest banking stock in terms of market capitalization in PNG traded ex-dividend today. Meanwhile another financial stock Kina Asset Management Ltd (KAM) closed even at 99 toea even followed by Marengo Mining ltd (MMC) at 3 toea unchanged.

Share units traded were 63,745 at a value of K12,012.73.

In markets abroad, U.S stocks ended Thursday’s choppy session slightly lower as investors faced comments of the Fed about the possibility of raising interest rates this year. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 36.87 points or 0.20% to 18,126.12 points. In Asian markets, Japanese stocks extended rally into the 11th day and its fifth straight month of gains on Friday with hopes of better shareholding returns. The Nikkei share average climbed 11.69 points (+0.06%) to 20,563.15 points. The Australian stock market shrugged off weak cues overnight from Wall Street and led by gains in banking stocks. The benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 rose 64.10 points or 1.12% to 5,777.20 points at the close of market today.
